Middle Starting Hands

One of the basic tenets of Texas hold em poker , and virtually all poker games there are, is that you shouldn’t make a habit of playing poker middling starting hands. Sure, sometimes your 8-9 suited will turn into a flush or straight, but most of the time it won’t. And if you constantly play hands like that, or hands like King-7 offsuit, you are almost always starting behind in the hand. Here’s an example of why you don’t want to play middling starting hands, unless you are in the blind and can see a cheap flop: Let’s say you call with Q-8 offsuit against 4 other players. And the flop comes out 10-8-2. Well, now you’re compelled to stay in the hand because you got a part of the flop. Someone bets and you call. The turn comes out with a 9. Well, now you have a straight draw, and unlikely gutshot straight draw nonetheless, and you’ll again feel compelled to call. When the river comes out a 2, you don’t have a draw but will still call on the river when the other player makes a bet, just to see if you’re pair of eights holds up, and you’re invested in the pot. Well, when he turns over a K-10 or A-9, you realize that you wasted a decent amount of chips on a starting hand, Q-8 offsuit, you should have just folded before the flop. That scenario is usually what happens if you make a habit of playing mediocre starting poker hands.

Becoming a Student Pt Three

In the last two sections we talked about expanding your poker online games and using the notes feature. In this section, we’re going to talk about poker onlineN freeroll hunting and bonus hunting. If you’re a decent player, then you’ll be able to make quite a bit of money just from freerolling, rakebacks, and poker bonus hunting. When you sign up on a site, you generally get an offer to get a match bonus for up to x% of your initial deposit, and many sites are trying to get these players to keep playing so they’re offering initial deposit bonus freerolls for new depositors. You, as the up and coming poker phenom, are going to take advantage of this. If you hunt hard enough you can find a schedule of freerolls and bonuses. For the bonuses I recommend the site bonuswhores.com as they have all the best bonuses available and are constantly updating. For the freerolls and big guaranteed tournaments, you should check out freerollsmonitor.com since they include all the freerolls that are coming up within the next hour. If you bonus hunt and clear your bonuses, and start playing and winning the freerolls, you’ll soon start to notice that you’re bankroll is doubling pretty quickly. And when this happens, you’ll know you’ve moved into that “beyond amateur” stage. Think about it, if you get a 110% bonus match up to 600 dollar and you invest 600 and clear your bonus, you just got a free 660 dollars. Not a bad deal in my opinion.

A Look at National Lotteries and Online Prize Draws

Prize draws are becoming very common across Europe. So much so the draws are oftentimes on TV during peak viewing times so everyone can sit in front of the TV and mark off the numbers they have selected. However, the betting odds are stacked against YOU winning. Just because someone wins doesn’t mean the betting odds are anything but awfully abominable. - no matter if you took part in the national lottery all your life. The great majority of people do the lottery for fun, and at the same time keeping alive the ambition of feasibly having enough money to retire early. Numerous people don’t just buy a lottery ticket - they’re also buying hope.

But while lotteries really turn the odds against every last individual, there are draws online which do provide you with a good possibility of acquiring high quality prizes , for instance a car, holiday or even a luxury house. These kinds of draws - while not promising one literally a millionaire lifestyle - will hand you a realistic chance of being a winner. To add to that, one normally has to answer some questions correctly prior to being permitted into the draw. - so some knowledge is required.

So it’s good advice to view what type of prize draws are already on the internet. Just type in some words into a search engine such as UK prize draw and you’ll promptly draw up numerous competitions available to take part in.

Signs of Tilting

One of the most welcome sights in a poker online game is an opponent who is going on tilt. An opponent who’s tilting is not in his right mind-he’s angry, which means that he’s going to be more aggressive and loose and his judgment will be impaired. If you know how to recognize a poker player who’s tilting, you can help him out by relieving him of what’s left of his chips. When you find an opponent who starts playing unusually after experiencing some bad luck, it’s a safe bet that he’s tilting. Here are a few ways to find a player who’s tilting.

Look for the player who bemoans his luck. A player who complains about how bad his cards are or about the bad beat he just suffered is dangerously close to tilting.

When a player berates an opponent for playing badly, it’s probably because that opponent just drew out on him, and he’s losing his cool.

Watch for some erratic play. When an online poker opponent who is usually tight or passive suffers a bad beat and starts playing lots of hands and betting lots of chips, he’s probably lost his cool and is trying to recoup his loss.

Let’s Make a Deal

As online poker tournaments get down to the last few players, it’s not uncommon to hear someone propose splitting up all the prize money several ways instead of playing it down to the end with prize money allocated according to finish. This is a natural outcome of the game since poker is basically a game of deal making and one-upmanship. Sometimes the deal is informal and friendly. For instance, if there are only three pay-outs, and the table is down to five, someone might propose that small amounts be skimmed off the top prizes to pay fourth and fifth place. That eliminates the “bubble” situation where everyone is just trying to hang on to make the money.

To reach an agreement to chop the all the prize money into several equal portions requires mutual consensus. Some poker players though may hesitate to have their vote be public, and card rooms are responding with procedure to handle it. The players are all dealt a black and red card. One color represents a yes vote to the chop, and the other colors is a veto. The players return their secret votes to the dealer who then assesses whether the players have agreed to chop or continue to play to the last one standing. Chopping the pot has some advantages, especially when it’s heads-up, where plain good and bad luck can dictate the outcome. Heads-up play can also last a long time, and when the difference in first and second place prize money is not great, ending the session eliminates the time and stress involved in seeing it to a finale.

Developing Bowling Student’s Heaven on Earth, Your Neighborhood Bowling League

I regularly hear from a Nintendo Wii bowler looking to play your neighborhood bowling league with new respect. When bowling is the case, you’re in the midsts of a major rebirth in your development as a dedicated bowling competitor. Our “Next Steps” handbook to the Top 5 Bowling Tips is for you. The guys at a nearby bowling pro shop are there to assist their customers to uncover bowling zen mental toughness. We like to say, roll strikes if can spare ‘em (hehe). Just kidding. I admit, bowling is a simple game with not-so simple details. No worry, with a little guidance we’ll make sure you’re rolling the best way we know how.

You’ll definitely want to buy your own properly-fitted necessities, especially good bowling shoes. It’s not a sales pitch, it actually matters. There’s a reason its our number 1 recommendation, have your private ball fitted, and you’ll never go back. A properly weighted bowling ball can make a substantial improvement in your game. The same goes for benefiting from actual bowling shoes that smell fresh, look good and help your foot work.

Since you already bought your bowling ball and shoes, here’s the second best piece of bowling advice: how to aim. If you hold the ball, don’t shoot for the back of the lane. Aim for the the arrows like a barrel of a gun. Ever noticed them? It is easier to aim for a point that rests nearer. To get the most out of your aim, it should be your habit to line-up at the exact spot on the floor each time. If you do it the same every time you can perfect your marksmanship.

Do we have any tips for spin, to get proper speed and ball control? Indeed, this is another “Next Steps” bowling hint. The secret is the ball type. Actually, professional bowlers regularly roll two or three bowling balls to get heavy hooks, selected precisely for the lane. Just a bit of caution: begginers should work with just one, and steer clear of a ball that weighs a ton. Some semi-pro bowlers roll bowling balls made for special resin materials. Steer clear of them, because these pro bowling balls regularly make even some well known players appear silly. With these tips you’re on the right track. There will be more next week.

-George Chase

My friends and I play for Team “Gipper” comprised of the operation at a major bowling ball retailer just outside Kansas City. I provide tips to aspiring bowlers on the web and at the bowling center. Finally, I have to give a shout out to my bowling buddies heading into tournament play. Knock ‘em dead.

Online Poker Rooms: Popularity Is Important

There is a huge selection of online poker rooms available for you on the internet today. More and more pop up every day, and the trend shows no sign of falling off in the future. With all the choices out there, how do you know if your favorite online poker room is a good idea? More than that, how do you know when it is time to switch to another casino?

It’s only one tool in your arsenal for evaluating an online casino, but there is a general rule of thumb between popularity and quality. Quality casinos attract players-it’s just that simple. So if you start to notice that it is getting harder and harder to put together a table at that hole in the wall casino, you may want to switch.

The more popular online casinos have good and bad points. On the up side, you can be assured that the website is legitimate, safe, and that you will always find people to play poker with. On the other hand, more players mean more card sharks that are attracted by the prospect of schooling some newbies. To avoid the sharks ( and not end up with the fish) try a middle range limit game. You will still be able to earn a bit of cash, but won’t get cleaned out by the more advanced players. You should be able to find the right game for you because popular websites tend to offer more gaming choices to accommodate the larger crowds.

Take the Call or Take the Pot? Cell Phone Poker

It seems now a days that you can find a poker game anywhere that you look. Not just do bars and recreational centers around the world offer tournaments for the casual player, but poker dominates the television airways. This modern poker craze is now approaching the last technological frontier: your cell phone.

Now, instead of playing with your ringtone when you have a spare moment (and severely aggravating all the people around you), you can use the wireless on your phone to connect to an active poker game in an online casino. Everything is exactly the same when you play poker on a cell phone as when you play on a computer (except of course the screen is much, much smaller). All of the buttons function in the same manner, and you can play with the same strategies that you always do.

One thing you should know before you rush out for an internet enabled cell phone is that only certain online poker rooms currently support cell phone play. That means if you have a particular favorite website, you should check with them before you try to connect through your phone. Also, cell phone poker is probably not for you if you frequently receive calls. If you take a call while playing poker on a phone, it automatically will put you all in for the game. You could end up losing big time if you need to take a call.

Poker Play Styles

Of the myriad styles of playing online poker, one of the most lauded is the solid-aggressive style. The solid-aggressive style of playing poker is a method in which you play conservatively in the first few rounds of a tournament and then ramp up your aggression in the later stages.

In the early stages, the solid-aggressive player will play few hands, waiting for his opponents to make a mistake, and when they do, he’ll act-raising a weak bet when he puts another player on a bluff, for example, and increasing his stack.

Once the tournament has progressed, the solid-aggressive player will start pushing more chips in, trying to double up and cripple his opponents in the later rounds, when chip stack can be every bit as important as the cards.

A risk involved with solid-aggressive play is that the conservative start makes it difficult to grow your chip stack in the early stages. On the other hand, when a solid-aggressive poker player accumulates a stack, he’s a dangerous opponent.

The key to playing sold-aggressive poker is to know where you are at all times. Know your betting position, the size of your chip stack compared to everyone else’s, and to plan your moves accordingly. Be patient, and when you see your opportunity, make your move.

Video Poker versus Regular Poker

Regular poker is fun to play and in a casino, they have the option to play what is considered ‘video poker’. These machines are often times put in with the regular slot machines as they have similar formats. The difference in video poker is that the player is inserting money once at a time to play only one time.

Playing regular poker, you have several other players playing against you. In video poker, you play against the machine. Cards are selected based on you pushing a button to hold, or to throw away. After the cards are selected for this, the hand plays out. The result is that you win or loose a certain amount of money.

In a regular game of poker, bets are placed throughout the hand. In video poker, your bet is placed at the beginning and the only bet that is placed period. In both these games, playing can be fun based on challenge of the cards, how the hand plays out.

Either way you choose to play can be fun. There are differences in the way the poker hands play out and the betting, but that does not mean it is any less fun. You just need to know which game is your preference and which game will bring you the most enjoyment in the long run.
