Top 10 Miraculous Benefits of Keeping a Personal Journal

In earlier generations it was common to keep a diary or personal journal. Today few people do it, and very few recognize the value and astonishing power of keeping a journal. If you can read and write, you have access to the most amazing source of personal power and magic! Try it for 30 days and watch it transform your life! Clients periodically tell me they couldn’t possibly find the time. I ask them to try it for 30 days. Then clients often tell me they couldn’t possibly live without the power of their journals. The following are my list of the top 10 reasons to keep a journal.

1. A journal will clarify your goals. As you write a few thoughts each day, your ideas about what is important, what is worthy of your life and your time will become much clearer. You’ll automatically discover what you really want in life.

2. A journal will simplify your life. Spending as little as 10 minutes with pen and paper describing your values, noting your achievements and giving thanks for the joys of life, will make you less tolerant of life’s distractions. Things become much simpler when you write them down.

3. A journal will strengthen your relationships. It will give you time and the words to express your feelings, it will help you understand and be patient with your loved one’s peccadilloes, and it will teach you to love more powerfully.

4. A journal will make you more attractive. Socrates said, “Know thyself.” Keeping a journal will help you know yourself and express yourself more clearly, and that is amazingly attractive!

5. A journal will empower you. Thinking with pen and paper forces you to eliminate fuzzy or confusing images and “laser” in on precisely the right word, the most powerful image to express yourself. Keeping a journal will make you more a better communicator, and that can make you rich!

6. A journal will eliminate temptation. Some ideas sounds great in our imagination, but when written on paper they just aren’t the same! It’s easy to blurt out “I hate my job!”, but writing about what it means to quit, change careers and start over will quickly result in one of two things: The temptation will go away, or you’ll start generating actual plans to make your life better. Either way, you win!

7. A journal affirms the reality of your life. Writing about life adds meaning and power. Journal your child’s first steps or first tooth, starting school, her first date and high school graduation adds substance to these things. A friend of mine just became a grandfather for the first time and gave his son, the proud father, a fat 3-ring binder of notes he’d written as he’d watched his baby boy grow 25 years ago. Together they cried and laughed at the reality that life is a sacred, wonderful thing.

8. A journal helps you be quiet. Journalizing has been called a form of meditation. It has a similar power to quiet the mind and focus your thoughts. It even has the power to turn off the TV! It can heal anxiety, change your breathing and make you smile. What more could you ask?

9. A journal helps you speak out. Many of my articles, letters to the local paper, and letters to friends began as notes in my journal. A journal helps ideas become words, and it provides a nursery for words to grow into sentences and paragraphs, until finally they need a stage on which to express themselves. Sometimes that “stage” is a candle-lit dinner, other times it’s a protest sign or a letter to an old friend. Whatever form it takes, many of those messages would never have been born without the safety of a journal in which to grow.

10. Finally, a journal just feels good! Using quality paper and a fountain pen or other beautiful instrument with just the right “heft” and feel is a wonderfully sensuous, delightful experience. It will cheer you up, reduce your stress, make you smile and add to your life. Who knows, it may even improve your sex life or make you more patient with the kids! (Well, it might!)

Seven Tips for Choosing a Maid of Honor

Choosing your Maid of Honor isn’t as simple as it looks. Nowhere else in your wedding planning is it easier for vexing problems to turn up! Why? Because the Maid of Honor’s duties are often vaguely defined, and worse, poorly communicated.

In fact, every bride has her own unique idea of what a Maid of Honor should be. Which is fine - the trick is in communicating those ideas!

So what does a Maid of Honor do? On one end of the spectrum, she’s a ceremonial figure who steps off the plane and walks down the aisle before the other bridesmaids.

On the other, she’s a master of precognition who soothes your nerves before you know you’re frazzled, helps you send out your invites, “manages” the bridesmaids, spreads the word on your registry, and offers up her thoughts on everything from the venue to the dress.

Most often, the Maid of Honor is somewhere in the middle. She leads the bachelorette party and/or bridal shower, and tries to “be there” for the bride during the planning process, and the ceremony itself.

All this flexibility leaves a lot of room for misunderstandings. And they happen a lot. The world is full of brides who feel hurt and let down by close friends as the big day draws near. Do you want to be one of them? Of course not!

So here are some tips on choosing - and communicating with - your Maid of Honor for minimum stress, and maximum happiness.

1) Define what you really want.

Are you a do-it-yourself bride, or do you want your Maid of Honor to be your right hand all the way through?

If you’re high-maintenance, accept and acknowledge it.

Pick someone who can truly be there for you, and let them know exactly what you want. If you don’t know anyone with that much time or energy to give, think about finding help elsewhere. Is your fiancé an active participant? Can your mother do more? Maids of Honor are not supposed to be wedding co-planners … unless they really, really want to be!

2) Tell her what you really want.

More than one bride has shed tears because a Maid of Honor couldn’t read her mind. For example: many brides wish their Maids of Honor could give a little speech at the reception, but never get around to asking them. If it’s important to you, talk about it!

3) It doesn’t have to be family.

Never feel you “have to” make a sister or other family your Maid of Honor. If your best friend’s a loyal trooper who goes with you on all the errands, choose her. She deserves it.

4) Pick someone local if you need a lot of help.
No one can do much from 3000 miles away, no matter how badly she wants to.

5) Be realistic; look at past performance.

Weddings are exciting. People are human. When everything’s new and you’ve just announced your plans, lots of people will offer to help. But not everyone will manage to follow through.

Who came through for you before the wedding? Who actually managed to rearrange their schedules to be with you, even when inconvenient? These are the people to rely on. No matter how exciting your plans, they won’t make an overcommitted person more available to you. Avoid the trap of asking such a person because you think your wedding will be “important enough” for them to “change their ways,” and you’ll avoid all the stress and hardship of a disappointing Maid of Honor.

6) Be realistic; look at her life ahead.

No matter what a treasure your Maid of Honor is, she has limits, too. Is she expecting a new baby? Is she working through a divorce? If these things slow her down, which they probably will, can you pick up the slack without feeling disappointed?

7) Consider more than one Maid of Honor if you just can’t decide.

But keep in mind, this can cause problems too. Can your Maids of Honor divide responsibilities, communicate well and avoid feelings of jealousy?

Now that you’ve chosen, honor your Maid of Honor with a little sign of how special she is to you. Take her out to a day spa, or go together to have your hair done before the ceremony. Pick out a dress for her that’s a different color from the other bridesmaids, or order her a bouquet with some special touches. She deserves it!

Follow these tips, and you’ll be the bride who spends that all-important day surrounded by loving, warm friends at their ease. What could be better?

A Clean Colon with Purity12

Getting a Free Trial of Purity 12

Using Purity 12 Cleanse system is a great way to flush out your bodies toxins the natural way via colon cleansing. It removes the harmful toxic waste build up that has been accumulating in your colon. Not only does this colon cleansing system remove the nasty, unhealthy toxic waste build up from your colon, but it also burns fat cells, boosts your metabolism, renews energy and vitality, relieves bloating and constipation, contains Pro-Biotics that create a hostile environment for harmful bacteria, parasites, and worms, causing them to flee from your system, and lowers your risk of getting a chronic disease and colon cancer. Parasites can cause loss of appetite, poor vision, sleep problems and irritability. With this colon cleaser, you can reverse these toxin side effects by making sure that you cleanse your colon on a regular schedule.

A healthy colon is a colon that is freed from a poisonous waste build up. Be this as it may, getting poisons are unavoidable. This poison accumulation takes the form of maybe 15 pounds of fecal matter. When the gut is so backed up, the surplus gas may not be able to pass as simply or as fast as it should be ready to. If the toxins are not removed, this causes the excess gas to build up, which leaves you in a bloated state.Purity 12 Cleanse will help you by removing the poisonous material from your body.

The act of colon cleansing has been going on since the beginning of our time, or at least since the beginning of our recorded history. In fact, colon cleansing has been documented to have been practiced as early as 1500 B.C. in Egypt. Purification, releasing your body of potentially harmful toxins, was a big deal if you want to live a healthy life. Most ancient medical practices have long been forgotten, but not this one. However, if you really think about it, it is not so surprising. Purity 12 Cleanse is a great colon cleansing system of which you should try.It is merely because colon cleansing is so important to your health, for the benefits of colon cleansing are simply too hard to ignore.

Improve the Feel of Your Bedroom

Everybody is aware of the massive change that can occur in a room when you alter the colour of the walls. Another overlooked way to change the way a room looks is to change the flooring, a purple rug can make a great alternative to exposed floorboards or lino.

A great way to change the feel of a room is to modify its shape. Occasionally this can present quite a challenge. Some rooms have ceilings which are not in proportion to the width of the room which can look strange - a great way to combat this is to install a false ceiling with down lighters. Whenever you find a toilet directly next to a bathroom its always a good idea to remove the parting wall. Conversely adding a parting wall where necessary can always be a great way to bring a space back into proportion.

A very useful way of increasing the apparent size of a room if it is quite thin is to hang large mirrors on opposing walls. Small mirrors also go a long way to achieving the desired affect and can often cost the fraction of the price of a huge mirror. The genius of it is your brain is fooled into believing the space is much larger than it is for the fraction of the cost of moving a parting wall. If the room in question is big enough you could utilise the space by building a mezzanine level.

In any living space you should always make sure the furniture you have is comfortable. If your room is one designed to relax in make sure that the furniture you choose for it allows you to relax.

VoIP Phone Home?

The movie Extra Terrestrial (ET) coined the phrase “phone home” and each year American’s look for more cost effective ways to do just that. The past 10 years have seen the development and growing popularity of Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) technologies to achieve cost savings over the traditional circuit-switched telephone networks. The two dominate technologies used for VoIP are: (1) the Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) and (2) Peer-2-Peer (P2P). For business and educational institutions SIP VoIP solutions have produced substantial savings. For home voice users, however, SIP VoIP is still value challenged.

A typical circuit-switched landline phone costs about $19.95 per month (plus tax). The good old American landline phone should be graphically depicted beside the word “reliable” in the dictionary. Not only does it keep working, even when all electrical power fails, but it can even provide you with a light to dial with. At $15 dollars per month SIP VoIP is still value challenged due to the lack of full support for E9-1-1 emergency services and of course the reliability issues inherent with using a real time application over a “best effort” network like today’s Internet. Although few VoIP articles still reference Internet Request For Comments (RFC) 3714 “IAB Concerns Regarding Congestion Control,” the technical challenges associated with VoIP are widely known. Further, even with the recent dubious edict by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) that VoIP service providers will provision support for E9-1-1 within 90 days, this still leaves the reliability issues unresolved. The use of adaptive rate CODEC’s to prevent congestion collapse is a swell idea if it applies to my neighbor’s service but not my own. Using adaptive rate CODEC’s to elicit voluntary user preemption has no appeal in the modern world. Technology is supposed to be getting better and it is clearly not better that users receive disconnects or degraded service quality in order to constrain network bandwidth consumption.

Quality of Service (QoS) has been the four letter word of the Internet for a very long time. Yet, we know that real time applications such as video and voice are a mismatch for “best effort” service models. Cost savings are important, but not if they require users to accept backward technology leaps. After 9/11 the United States should have begun standardization efforts to insure that VoIP QoS levels would be equivalent to circuit-switched networks, especially where emergency E9-1-1 calls are concerned. The recent FCC order only requires that E9-1-1 call center traffic be properly routed. It does nothing to insure QoS of the connection once the call is completed.

As for SIP VoIP in the home, there is too little incentive for savvy consumers to part with more of their hard earned communications dollars for an industry offering that simply does not meet the needs of the user. Until something concrete can be done to move SIP VoIP forward, service based on P2P such as Skype seems to be the only sensible choice on the kitchen table. Why should home users pay $15 or more per month for less reliable communications than they already have with their land line? Skype gives users the ability to experience “best effort” voice over the Internet for FREE. Could this be the reason why more than 125 million copies of Skype’s P2P software has been downloaded? And for the occasions where interconnection with the existing circuit-switched telephone networks is required, Skype offers a very competitive 2 cents per minute interconnection rate. With Skype you can talk for 12 hours interconnected to the phone system for the same cost as a basic rate SIP VoIP service.

Until genuine changes are made to support SIP VoIP QoS there does not appear to be a convincing or compelling reason today for users to choose anything other than P2P VoIP services such as Skype to render Internet “best effort” home phone services.

Reach Your Goals - Use Your Holidays

Use birthdays and other gift-giving holidays to help reach your goals

Suggest to friends and family that for your birthday, Christmas, Hanukah, etc., you would much rather receive goal-related gifts than a new set of bath salts or scented candles. Examples:

Tuition assistance at the college you’re attending to get that new degree.

Supplies, or money toward supplies, to open your new business.

A gift certificate to a trendy shop to buy new clothes for that new figure.

An invitation to that networking-central black-tie party to help promote your new business orexpand your Rolodex.

A computer program that you need for your new endeavor.

All of these gift ideas give your friends the chance to say, “I love you and support you”, and they’ll know that not only will their gifts fit (and be the right color), but that they will be used and appreciated far more than another holiday sweater would be.

The Nitty Gritty of Malignant Mesothelioma: Scarce Cancer

Cancer of the mesothelium is a rare cancer of the tissue that lines the body’s inside organs. Nearly 2,000 brand new occurrences are pinpointed every year in the whole US. Of this group, almostthree out of four of cases affect the sac that protects the lungs, referred to as the pleura. Also known as pleural mesothelioma. In around 10 to twenty percent of instances, mesothelioma cancer might involve the tissue that encloses visceral organs, called the peritoneal membrane, resulting in what is then referred to as peritoneal mesothelioma.

Introduction to asbestos is positively the main risk factor for this rare aliment. Following asbestos exposure, the time to progression of the mesothelioma disease may be 2 to 4 decades. As a result of work introduction, mesothelioma is nearly three times more common in males, than in women. Because the mass of occurrences goes up with age, there are about ten times more cases in the males over age 64 than in the males in their thirties.

Being diagnosed with Cancer of the mesothelium is a grave sickness, that, at the current time, has a incredibly poor degree of long-term endurance. On the other hand, if it is recognized quickly, care are then obtainable that will considerably lengthen the patient’s life. Cutting edge therapies continue to be and are being tested by the way of clinical trials.
