World On IP Community versus Telecoms’ Monopoly

World on IP community versus the TELECOMS’ monopoly or a dream of a visionary

Why VOIP will grow over the usual telephony

Without qualification, if one had to choose between usual telephone lines or IP telephony for carrying the voice, the first would be a better fit for the needs of voice communications. Also, IP telephony is generally subject to transmission delays.

Voice communications is highly sensitive to delays or irregularities in the transmission of voice signal components.

Even when transmitted in digital form, not only must the transmission delay be small (so as to be imperceptible to the listener), but also the time between the arrival of digital signal samples at the receiving end of a transmission must be at regular intervals. Any significant form of delay, whether delay of all samples or one sample relative to the other, can significantly degrade the quality of the voice signal recreated at the far end of the transmission.

Besides, Ip telephony during network congestion is subject to the loss of “packets” and with them part of the words of a conversation.

In the usual telephone lines, this doesn’t occure, because new calls are blocked from entering the network and there is no network congestion.

Why so much activity was spent in the last few years to overcome these problems?

Now, we are definetly able to offer a very good and reliable VOIP , with phones that can be used also on a Modem or ISDN connection. ( very attractive for the countries that are mostly penalized with high cost of telephone charges: India, Africa and rural zones in general.) A high compression and a new algorithm for it will allow the transmission of voice without any delay, the priority given to the voice packets will kill the congestion, all this resulting in a gorgeous quality of voice.

Although voice communications continues to dominate the market today, this will ultimately change as data communications grows at 100% per year, ( in Italy last year we had a 250% growth of DSL lines and they say next year will even be better) while voice only increases by 8 to 10% per year. Thus, the doubling of the existing lines ( creation of voice over IP world ) only makes sense in the case the data customers want to use the data line for voice communications as well. For example, a multi-location user that uses a commercial data network service to connect those customer locations might want to cut down expenses by using that same network for voice communications, as well. It has been estimated that companies can lower their communications costs by as much as 80% by placing their voice traffic through the unused space in their data networks .

How we plan to compete with the giant Telecoms of today

Entering the market against the Telecoms is downright dangerous and potentially fatal in today’s capital environment. The net revenue derived from investment should be small relatively to the size of the investment. A single large business may generate many thousands of dollars per month in revenues for an investor , while a big residential consumers investment would generate very little revenue compared to the infrastructures required.

That considered, it should not surprise us if firms try and serve large businesses rather than residential customers.

If competition is less likely when the revenue is small relative to the size of the investment, there are three ways to increase competition in a market:

a) increase revenue

b) reduce the investment required

c) do both.

What has all this to do with being a Utopistic dreamer or visionary as many defined me while I explained my project?

I have an exciting project, which, if succesfull, will allow all the people who own a DSL line to be able to call the world with a portable IP phone. I will try to explain it as much as possible ( you can also see my web pages at http://www.worldonip.com/community. )

It is very simple.

Instead of sharing the bandwidth to download illegal MP3 or movies, we share it to telephone for free.

You need to connect to your DSL line an Access Point, to place the antenna on a window. You do not even need to have the computer on 24 hours a day, just connecting the access point. You will create a ” Hot Spot” that every other member of the community will be able to use. You will then need a (real) portable IP phone, you will connect to the Net either through your own Hot Spot or through the hot spot of any other member, wherever you will be ( all the continents will have people sharing hot spots. )

A call with our device consumes maximum 20 k, thanks to to high compression of the voice and the quality is absolutely gorgeous.

Our telephone will have a price around 200 - 250 US dollars. An access point costs not more than 100 US dollars. The value of the investment highly overcomes the amount.

Imagine, being able to call for free for the rest of your life!!! And imagine what kind of doors opens a connection like that!

Going back to the market competition.

In my particular case

a) Increase the revenue. Every member would have enormous revenues under the voice” Free call wherever he wants”.

b) Reduce the investment. Being a shared investment, every member will invest in the enterprise the cost of an Access point ( around $100 or even less). Considering that in the beginning we will have members who already have a DSL line with a flat rate, and already use it for other purposes, also the cost of running the system and relative bandwidth will amount to almost zero. The cost of the phone is irrilevant compared to the benefit of having FREE CALLS.

Not only does the Community reduce the investment required to provide a competitive service to almost ZERO, it also significantly reduces the risk involved in funding a telecom start-up venture. The Community allows an entrant to begin a new service at minimal sunk capital cost.

Further, once a critical mass of customers is signed up on the Community, it becomes far more cost effective for the entrant to build a new ” Hot Spot”.

To the unskilled eye, it appears as if the competition envisioned by the authors of the Telecommunications Act of 1996 for residential and small business markets was not much more than a dream - an unrealized and unrealizable nirvana.

The project of the Community is making that dream a reality and offers the potential for building a really strong TELECOM able to compete against the World Telecoms’ monopoly.

Our model is easy to realize ( because the infrastructure already exists), brings enormous revenues to the members of the Community and the investment is really minimal.

Without considering the NON-Polluting system that will be created in competition to a Highly polluting system existing.

World on Ip community versus Telecoms’ monopoly. A real challenge?

VoIP Technology

VoIP technology seems to be great! But confused about how to go about it? That’s the common refrain of people wanting to graduate from a dial-up connection on to VoIP. The applications of VoIP technology are so surreal, so amazing that this dilemma is not exactly uncalled for.

But before we go into the applications of VoIP, let’s first understand as to what is VoIP. VoIP (voice over internet protocol) is a technological innovation allowing you to send data, audio & video concurrently over the internet, this transforms into minimal use of the available bandwidth thereby offering mind blowing transmission speeds.

VoIP has the potential to fulfill all your communication needs be it telephony, data transfer, video conferencing… your imagination is the limit. To move onto the big league, you would have to contact a VoIP service provider. These VoIP providers buy bandwidths from wholesale VoIP providers & sell it to individual customers at a premium.

Today the UK VoIP market is flush with a wide variety of VoIP providers, in order to truly enjoy VoIP you must be able to pick & choose the best provider as per your individual needs. This seems easy but it is not so, the VoIP carriers in their eagerness to corner larger chunks of the VoIP market often forgo quality & reliability.

But as it is said that ‘to every problem there’s a solution’, you can get past this hiccup on your way to super fast communication by taking expert advice from independent VoIP link providers. These websites being independent & impartial provide you with instant links to the best VoIP carrier in your area.

This way on one hand you get a broad overview about VoIP services & on the other hand ensure effortless transition in to the VoIP arena.

VoIP for sure is the communication solution of the future, faster you join, more the advantage you get!!

    Fitness: Getting Started

It seems like everywhere you turn, there is someone trying
to sell you some product or program to help you get in a
great fitness level. There is so much hype that it seems
hard to muddle through all the junk and find something that
can actually be helpful to you. There is also a ton of diet
products that claim to help you lose weight and build
muscle and many of these products either do not work at all,
    or can even be dangerous.

The problem is how do you distinguish between a genuine
product and one that is just trying to make a quick buck off
of you? How do you know when you are doing what is best for
you and your body and what is healthy? These are really
common questions. Almost everyone worries about their
fitness level at some time. You may decide you need or want
to be in better shape. Or you might have been told by your
doctor because of a separate health condition.

If you want to get some result from fitness you have to pay
attention on some advices. Fitness requires some effort. You
can not obtain great result only using special products. You
have to work your body in time and to have a good will.
Avoid all those magic products or miracle cures that in fact
do nothing or sometimes even affect your health. Your goal
must focus on making yourself healthier and on felling good
    in your body.

You also need to choose your fitness plan according to your
body type and what your goals are. Are you trying to lose
weight? Are you trying to gain weight or build muscle? Do
you want to bulk up or do you want slim and trim muscles?
All of these factors will affect the type of fitness and
exercise plan that you choose. Most people find that they
benefit from a fitness trainer and/or nutritionist that can
give them a total body plan for better fitness.

For the beginners it is hard to find from the articles the
right way in getting a good fitness plan. This happens
because not every body reacts in the same way to the
identical type of exercise. But there are some general rules
that you should follow. First of them is to drink a lot of
water because that has a great effect on helping your body.
Another important thing is to rest as much as possible if we
want to be relaxed and clearly minded.

Just like any other diet or fitness plan, you should always
talk to your doctor about it first before making any major
changes in your life. If you plan it properly, you can have
the fitness level you have always wanted.

    3 stars hotel in Rome

Rome is a reality. For Rome, more than for most cities, this always has been the central dilemma of city life:how to maintain its priceless heritage while improving the lot of its cheerfully inhabitants. Certainly the 2000 year Jubilee inspired efforts of recent years and have made a difference. Transport has been boosted, new museums have been opened and old ones renovated, and the long awaited Auditorium has opened to universal praise. The city hasn’t re-found the heady days of la dolce vita, but it’s looking good and it’s feeling better than it has for a long time.
Pride also informs much of the typical Roman character: romans are first and foremost Roman and only then italian.

In a country of unparalleled beauty, both natural and architectural, Rome remains the jewel in the crown. In no other city you can see so much in such a short space of time and yet merely scratch the surface. About 10 feet below ground level exists another world, with traces of other settlements deep still. In Rome every period has left a mark. In fact from the time when it was a caput mundi ( center of the world ), through the development of Christianity to the present day ( a period of more than 2.500 years ), Rome has become an unsurpassed anthropological and archaeological archive of Western culture. And it’s enough to wander the streets to see this.

The art of Michelangelo, the sculptures of Bernini, the palaces and the cobbled streets, the perfectly formed piazzas, Rome is all this. Nothing is hidden, it’s all there waiting for you much as it has been for hundreds of years.
Rome is yet the capital of the world:it’s a city of palaces and temples, more glorious than those which any city contains. And it’s also a duty of the Rome hotel owners to keep efficient this immense heritage.

What is Cash Flow? The Basic Concepts

Ever wondered what is cash flow? Understanding the basic concepts of cash flow will help you plan for the unforeseen eventualities that nearly every business faces. Although poor management is normally given as the main cause for business failure, poor cash management is running a close second as a common stumbling block.

Cash is ready money in the bank or in the business. It is not inventory, it is not accounts receivable (what you are owed), and it is not property. These can potentially be converted to cash, but can’t be used to pay suppliers, rent, or employees. Profit growth does not necessarily mean more cash on hand. Profit is the amount of money you expect to make over a given period of time. Cash is what you must have on hand to keep your business running.

Cash flow refers to the movement of cash into and out of a business. Watching the cash inflows and outflows is one of the most pressing management tasks for any business. The outflow of cash includes those cheques you write each month to pay salaries, suppliers, and creditors. The inflow includes the cash you receive from customers, lenders, and investors.

There are two types of cash flow, positive and negative. Positive cash flow means, if its cash inflow exceeds the outflow, a company has a positive cash flow.

Conversely, negative cash flow means, if its cash outflow exceeds the inflow, a company has a negative cash flow. Reasons for negative cash flow include too much or obsolete inventory and poor collections on accounts receivable.

Cash flow can be broken down into three sections:

Operating cash flow: often referred to as working capital, is the cash flow generated from internal operations. It comes from sales of the product or service of your business, and because it is generated internally, it is under your control.

Investing cash flow: is generated internally from non-operating activities. This includes investments in plant and equipment or other fixed assets, nonrecurring gains or losses, or other sources and uses of cash outside of normal operations.

Financing cash flow: is the cash to and from external sources, such as lenders, investors and shareholders. A new loan, the repayment of a loan, the issuance of stock, and the payment of dividend are some of the activities that would be included in this section of the cash flow statement.

Good cash management is simple. It involves:

Knowing when, where, and how your cash needs will occur

Knowing the best sources for meeting additional cash needs

Being prepared to meet these needs when they occur, by keeping good relationships with bankers and other creditors

The starting point for good cash flow management is developing a cash flow projection to help them develop the necessary capital strategy to meet their business needs.

    Cheap International Plane Tickets

    Cheap International Plane Tickets

The best place to buy cheap international plane tickets is online. We’ve tried travel agencies and they can’t compete with the discount ticket websites. You can search google (”cheap airfare South America”, for example), or go straight to one of the well-known sites, like Expedia, Travelocity, Cheap Tickets, Hotwire or Priceline.

I just did a quick search for the cheapest airfare from Tucson, Arizona, to Buenos Aires, Argentina, using the five sites mentioned. They ranged from $1221 down to $873, and there were fares as high as $3728. Hotwire happened to have the cheapest, but they were the worst of the five when I searched for a domestic flight earlier. You cannot say which service will find the cheapest international plane tickets from week to week. My number one money-saving tip is to always check several websites when shopping for inexpensive flights.

    My Accidental $1000 Discovery

Before going to Ecuador, I searched several websites that deal in cheap international plane tickets. The cheapest airfare from Traverse City, Michigan to Quito, was $1720. Out of curiosity, I checked Miami to Quito, and it was only $400. Airfare from Traverse City to Miami was $300. Book two separate flights and save more than $1000! The discount sites aren’t set up to check in this way (yet), so you have to do this on your own.

If your first flight is late and you miss the second, you may not get a refund, but it is still cheaper (every time I checked) to just book a flight to Miami and catch a flight to Quito without a reservation, thus avoiding this problem. This strategy is best for those in towns without international airports. If you live in Miami, you already have cheap international airfare.

    Courier Flights

As an air courier, you can get really cheap international plane tickets. Courier companies ship material in the luggage space of an aircraft passenger because it can be quicker, cheaper, and more reliable than sending the shipment unaccompanied, since checked luggage bypasses many of the typical customs delays. The courier company begins by purchasing airfare, and then they resell the plane tickets to you. In exchange for your luggage space, they give you a discount on the airfare.

An Example Of A Courier Flight

I saved over $150 on my plane tickets this way when I went to Ecuador the first time. I had to walk several suitcases of car parts through customs, but there was a representative of the courier company on either end, and I did get to look inside the luggage, so I knew what I was carrying. I had to carry a plane propeller on the return trip, but it wasn’t too much trouble, and made a good story.

    Limitations To Courier Travel

You generally can only be an air courier if you travel alone. Once in a while, a courier company will have opportunities for flights on or near the same date. Otherwise, your travel partner can pay full fare on the same flight. You also can usually only bring carry-on luggage, since the point is for the shipping company to use your checked luggage allowance.

    Really Cheap Courier Flights

Sometimes air couriers fly internationally for free, and almost always very cheap. It is a matter of how badly the company needs you and how flexible you can be (can you fly to Paris on Friday?). In general air courier opportunities are becoming rarer, due to the recent heavier regulation of international flights. There still are opportunities for cheap tickets, though. You can find out more at The Air Courier Association Website (www.aircourier.org). The ACA can also help you get really cheap plane tickets by way of airline ticket wholesalers, discounters, last minute specials, and stand-by travel.

More Tips On Cheap International Plane Tickets

When searching for fares using the discount websites, try several different departure and return dates if you can. The difference of a day or two can save you a lot. There is little logic to airfare pricing, so don’t try too hard to figure it out. Just be aware that if you leave on Friday instead of Wednesday (or vice-versa), you may save $100.

Check the boxes that say “any time” for departure and “2 or more connecting flights”. Even if you aren’t sure that you want to leave at midnight, see what your options are-the savings might change your mind. Whenever the search criteria allow you choices, take the ones that are the least restrictive for the airlines. Again, if the savings aren’t enough, you can always book first class, direct flights, or whatever you prefer.

Buying your plane tickets at least a week in advance is usually cheaper. Also, there can be a dramatic difference (but not always) if your trip is over thirty days. You may want to cut it from 32 days to 30 to save hundreds of dollars on your fare. Play with the dates on one of the websites mentioned. You never know what you might discover.

    Want To Go Really Cheap?

You can take a bus to a major city, if you don’t live in one, and then take an international flight from there to save quite a bit of money. My wife and I recently went to Ecuador for six weeks. The cheapest discount website plane tickets we could find were $3400 for the two of us. By taking a bus to Miami ($352 round-trip for 2), then flying from there to Quito ($622 round-trip for 2), we saved over $2400 - even after the taxi fare from the bus station to the airport. That’s a lot of money to us, certainly worth an extra day-and-a-half on a bus. (The whole six weeks cost less than $2500.)

The bottom line is that if you spend a few minutes or an hour to do some research, you might save hundreds of dollars. Good luck and happy travels.

Steve Gillman first hit the road on his own when he was sixteen, and traveled alone across the United States and Mexico at 17. Now 40, he continues to travel with his wife Ana, who he met in Ecuador. His website, Everything About Travel has many of his travel stories, plus tips and information on travel in the U.S. and other countries. Going on a volcano tour and camping at Walmart are some of the more unique experiences documented.

    Visit Arivaca, Arizona

Create your own Arizona day trip experience!

Whether you wish to plan a trip to see nature and wildlife, learn about the history of the southwest or just want to get away from it all Arizona has a variety of places to see and things to do that will interest any recreational adventurer.

Day trips make a refreshing break from the chaos of the daily routine. They can also be cheap, since many of the areas are distant from the city.

Arizona features a surprising range of terrain that includes desert, grassy lowlands and vegetated mountain regions. The climate found across the state also shows much variety. And you don’t have to travel far to appreciate this assortment of scenery. In the summer you can take a break in the cool, nearby hills, while the lower lying areas are more popular in the winter months.

Arivaca is in Southern Arizona. The community is 56 miles southwest of Tucson on Interstate 19 approximately 11 miles from the Mexico border.

Father Kino was one of the first Europeans to visit this region. He visited the Pima Indians in 1695. In 1833, the Mexican government granted Tomas and Ignacio Ortiz. They soon gained ownership where the brothers built the Aribac Ranch and raised cattle and horses.

In 1856, the Ortiz brothers sold the land to the Sonora Exploring and Mining Company and the ranch soon became an active mining community. But when the mines closed the area was largely abandoned.

Charles Poston acquired the property in 1870 then transferred his rights to the Arivaca Land and Cattle Company. The U.S. Government did not recognize the title so the land was declared public property.

Today, Arivaca is the home of about eight cattle ranches. The region is ideal for cattle grazing and orchards. The town has a community center, two tennis courts, two softball fields and a library.

The area’s rural character makes it perfect for wildlife viewing and outdoor activities. There is some vegetation, but also a lot of desert. The area is home to many species of birds, including hawks, ducks, songbirds and the strikingly beautiful “fully red” male Summer Tanager

Arivaca Lake is a 90-acre well-stocked lakes maintained by the Arizona Game and Fish Department. It is a quiet and peaceful place to visit but does require a bit of hiking to find.

The lake is secluded and is ideal for bird watching and lakeside walks. Lucky anglers will find the lake stocked with large-mouthed bass, bluegill and catfish.
The history of the region is whispered from the thresholds of the many ghost towns that mark the settlement of earlier travelers
    Plenty of ghost towns

The Tumacacori National Monument mission and Tumacacori National Monument are places of important historical significance.

The southwestern climate features mild winters and scorching summers; but this climate is well suited for the camping and hiking so popular to visitors.

See which features of this community appeal to you the most.

History, nature, and memorable experiences are all a part of what Arizona offers those who live, work, and visit. So consider the things this area has to offer the next time you take off to discover Arizona

International Manufacturers Seize Laptops for Gaming Opportunity

The times where laptops for gaming were a niche sector are vanishing very quick. They were tiny volume sellers and enormous profit generating items. They were the kind of notebook computer everybody wished for but the one they just were unable to purchase. Maybe they were never the most practical however I still believe they were the best laptops. Despite the excitement created I do not believe they were amazing sellers because I don’t believe buyers would buy laptops instead of desktops as they were not really good value. Sales will improve though now that established manufacturers are coming into the sector.

Just envisage how much money these companies could be producing especially when applying their economies of scale. Margins have been so slim lately that this is a good opportunity to get more money by selling computers. With their enormous marketing resources I’m certain they can convince people to buy laptops like these. Do the smaller players realistically stand a chance with this kind of threat? I say this because now the technology which was once exclusive and high priced is now getting standard. I believe buying from a familiar brand additionally provides the perception of added value for money.

The well known brands latest laptop computers are getting a lot of praise as being the best laptops from the IT journals. I believe that local resellers could still have a chance. Majority of the time the pre made systems are good performers however not fast enough and a couple of people don’t take well to that. Such buyers are typically techies and can check all the minute details. If you are purchasing the laptop for playing games then surely the power is the first concern.

Obviously from the customers perspective, its a positive thing. It will induce prices to drop and make premium technology cheaper for everyone. Its tough to predict what will happen really because the market is a fast evolving one. Technology is continuously getting better and the latest products will typically be pricey when it just comes out. The large companies have already started in the gaming laptops niche so we’ll have to be patient and see what happens I reckon.

Improve Your Yard and Garden with an ATV Plow

Like many parents, I’ve always had trouble getting my adolescent son to do work around the house. I’m really big on my yard and all the outdoor work that comes with it. I do a lot of gardening, a lot of shoveling, and even more trimming and loading. For years, it was nearly impossible to get my son to help with any of this, and I finally stopped asking for any assistance at all.

A couple years ago, the family up and moved to Colorado. And not just any part of Colorado … the Rocky Mountains. We found a nice house with a great yard in a small community called Evergreen, about 25 miles west of Denver in the foothills of the Rockies. To our surprise, the house came with a little bonus: A big wooden shed on the property containing an old ATV and a bunch of accessories to go along with it.

After arriving in late November, we found ourselves settled right in time for the winter’s first big snowstorm. And boy, did it ever come down. After three days of constant blizzard conditions and over five total feet of snow, we found ourselves trapped behind 200 yards of snow-packed driveway. The thought of attempting to shovel that huge area was overwhelming, until I recalled seeing a snow plow fitting for the old ATV in the shed. Hoping this might do the trick, I tracked out to the shed to see if I could put it together.

With a couple calls to the manufacturer of the ATV (Kawasaki), and the manufacturer of the snow plow (WARN), I was set up and ready to go. Curiously, I only made it to the edge of the garage before my teenage son was running at me with wide eyes and a never-before-seen look of interest in household chores. Amazingly, the kid begged me to shovel the driveway, a task he had always faked a cold to get out of.

In just two hours, the ATV had plowed the entire 200 yards of driveway, and my son ran in as excited as if he had just spent the time on his snowboard. For the remainder of the winter season, his eyes lit up each and every time the snow fell, and we never spent more than a couple hours snowed in. During those great hours, my wife and I would simply warm up a pot of hot cocoa and watch the amazing transformation taking place from the warmth of the house.

When spring came around and it was time to get started on my tree trimming and garden duties, I found a similar interest in these outdoor chores. I would trim the branches, and my son would load them into the ATV plow and transport them to the edge of the property. He then spent a week straight digging up dirt and proportioning areas of land for my grand gardening plans. In a fraction of the time it had taken in previous years, I had a great garden, thanks mostly to the help of my son and his new favorite toy.

In the past two years, I haven’t shoveled a bit of snow in the winter. For the past two summers, I haven’t put a bit of work into my garden. Yet I still have the best looking yard and garden on the block, and my son did it all with an old ATV and utility plow. And anytime the neighbors come to ask me how I got my son to be so helpful around the yard, I simply point at that old ATV and say “Get one of those and you’ll see for yourself.”

Unfortunately, his doctor has recommended cutting down on the hot cocoa in the winter due to rising cholesterol levels.
